Demand for impregnated wipes is already high in the aerospace market.
Now wipes are set to take off in the general engineering market.

Impregnated wipes enable cleaning in situ, providing a cost effective
alternative. They are particularly useful for small industrial cleaning operations
seeking to switch away from Trichloroethylene without having to make
significant investment in new machines and systems.

To give customers more choice, SIS Chemicals has recently introduced SKYSOLV, an impregnated solvent wipe using PURASOLV® EL (Ethyl lactate).

Sales of PURASOLV® continue to grow as solvent users switch to greener alternatives

Vertrel isn’t the only environmentally-friendly solvent taking off. The PURASOLV® range of solvents derived from sugar beet is becoming increasingly popular.

PURASOLV® is now widely used in the following markets:
• Solvent degreasing
• Solvent wipe cleaning
• Cleaning of Polyurethane injection heads
• Cleaning in the printing ink market

The PURASOLV® range of solvents is manufactured by Purac Biochem UK Ltd and supplied exclusively to the solvent market in the UK by SIS Chemicals. The range includes PURASOLV® EHL, arguably the most environmentally friendly and most effective alternative to Trichloroethylene on the market.

EHL is exempt from the SER (Solvent Emissions Regulations) and has Rolls Royce approval. When used as an immersion cleaner, EHL has superb cleaning characteristics followed by PURASOLV® EL as rinse solvent.

PURASOLV® EHL is unique in that it’s made from sugar beet, a renewable resource, and is a non-VOC. It is biodegradable and has excellent solvency power. It has an optimum toxicological profile, a high soil loading capacity and excellent substrate compatibility.

22/09/10 - Latest news on Trichloroethylene

The latest market information is that the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) invited comments by 22 April 2010 on eight chemicals including Trichloroethylene as ‘Substances of Very High Concern’ (SVHC) which may require special authorisation for their use.

The ECHA move comes on top of the Industry Voluntary agreement not to supply Trichloroethylene for use in open top degreasers after the end of 2010. It places more
pressure on Trichloroethylene users to find alternative solvents and/or to use safe handling equipment.

22/09/10 - New 'mini' SAFE-TAINER™ - Size Counts!

The new ‘mini’ SAFE-TAINER™ closed loop system supplied by SIS Chemicals has attracted significant interest since it was launched last year.

The mini SAFE-TAINER™ compliments the popular 200 litre standard drum size. It is used for the safe and sustainable use of chlorinated solvents, including Trichlorethylene. The system represents the Best Available Technology [BAT] when used with VOC-compliant degreasing or cleaning equipment including DOWPER MC™ stabilised Perchloroethylene.

The standard and mini SAFE-TAINER work in the same way. The system consists of two specially designed containers – one for fresh solvent and one for used solvent. Each container is delivered with a standard drum inside. The steel container protects the drum, preventing damage or spills. A special base construction allows easy transport with a forklift truck or pallet lifter. Both containers can be locked.
